IRBU is Brandon University’s Institutional Repository Its mandate is to: store preserve make visible make openly available the digital assets of Brandon University What are digital assets? A digital asset, in essence, is anything that exists in a binary format and comes with the right to use. Types of digital assets include, but are not limited to: photographs logos illustrations audiovisual media presentations spreadsheets word documents a multitude of other digital formats and their respective metadata Digital assets in IRBU IRBU is designed to collect and provide access to the digital outputs of Brandon University: scholarly educational institutional It also collects and provides access to: selected archival collections selected BUSU publications What kinds of materials can be submitted to IRBU? Examples of scholarly and educational materials: articles theses conference papers performances reports exhibits Examples of institutional materials: press releases plans newsletters calendars reports BU Art Collection Things to consider before submitting materials to IRBU File types and file size: supportable format (i.e. open source) suggested 1 GB maximum IRBU does not store data Copyright: The work is the original creation of the contributor(s) The contributor must either own the copyright in the work or have explicit, written permission from the copyright holder Who can submit materials to IRBU?
